This weekend we had some family visiting us from Kansas. Being surrounded by those who you grew up with, loved with, fought with, laughed with- it makes the heart bloom.
Jason and I had decided to move to Colorado well before we got married- not only did we want to start our lives as a wedded couple somewhere new and different, but we knew we also wanted to be in the mountains. Fate led us to where we presently live... we are constantly in awe with our surroundings and so happy with the decision we made to come out here. Jason does a much better job than I do with the actual immersion in the nature world, but I'm so pleased that all I have to do is look out the window and I'm there.
The thing I do miss is my connection with my cousins, friends- folks who grew up with me. My mom has twelve brothers and sisters... that ends up equaling a lot of extended family. Although I was a semi-only child for most of my life, I was surrounded by all of those cousins and was able to truly feel a part of something much bigger than my quiet household. And it almost always felt really good. I miss that. If only travel could actually take place with three clicks of my heels. Now THAT would be r-a-d.
