Seriously. To read this next entry will be to waste a moment of your life. I'm mostly bored, tired, and in disbelief that even with my fancy pants blue swirly background I do NOT FEEL INSPIRED TO WRITE. What the heck?
It's snowing right now. And it's been snowing for several hours. My hope beyond all hopes (at least this very second) is that it will continue to snow throughout the night and I will receive a phone call tomorrow morning telling me to stay in bed- for a snow day. THAT would be fabulous. Let's see... What would I do, what would I do? I think I'd start out by reading in bed. Then I'd make some of our Ethiopian coffee, crowning it with a fantastic batch of foamy milk. Next I'd, well, I'd probably read some more. And maybe, just maybe, call someone nearby to see if they were up for a snowshoe. But since snowshoeing requires physical effort, I might bypass that option. Instead I might bake. Cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, a loaf of bread... not sure. But who cares- I really don't need a plan. All I really NEED to do on a snow day is relax. That's the rules.
Ooohhh- I have a few adoption questions. First and foremost- how have folks organized paperwork? I know the amount will soon be overwhelming, so I figure why reinvent the wheel? If one of you out there has a great solution, please share. Second- is it across the board that folks have been asked by their agencies to not take pictures of other folks little ones when they're in Ethiopia picking up their own little one? I've been wondering if it were just a solo agency thing or more than that. I promise I'm not asking for any reason other than curiosity....
Now on to burning an old pair of skiis for the snow spirits- perhaps that will insure a snow day tomorrow. Please, please, please....

We had a glorious snow day on Friday...started the day with cinnamon rolls, then sent the kids out to play for alot of the day!
I arrange my documents using a 3-ring binder and those clear page protectors. On each plastic page, I have a post-it with anything I need yet to do (call to remind doctor, get notarazed, etc)
I originally organized things in a 3-ring binder. I had separate sections for things like: correspondence (yes, I printed up every email), dossier paperwork, things that need to be done soon, templates for other people (doctors forms and whatnot), Ethiopia information and "other".
We soon outgrew this binder, especially after we switched agencies, so now we use one of those plastic file totes. We got it for 9ish bucks at Office Max and I have the stuff organized in a similar fashion. Except, now I also have "old agency" and "CHI" stuff.
Hope that helps.
We used two separate three ring binders - one for homestudy, one for dossier. Each binder had those sheets in it that hold stuff with tabs on the ends. I had a checklist in front, and then the holder's tabs went in order of that checklist. Each time we got documents needed, they went into the binder. I loved and babied the binders until the day I sent off the dossier. I was never so organized in my life. It has since drained out of me and I am back to disorganized crazy, but I did get everything done is 5 months, so I think it worked.
Other question - CHI is new in Ethiopia, so they have to be more strict with the rules in order to present themselves well to the govt. The more established agencies have some lee-way (sp?) and so they seem to still be allowing people to take photos of kids in the care centers. But, I think CHFS is another agency that has this rule, and they have been there a long time too. So, I think it also depends on the agency and how they want to present themselves. I wish it weren't like that because I love looking at our old pics from the HOH and thinking how almost all of the kids are home with their families now... but I understand why they're doing it.
(How's that for a super-long comment?)
