Spring break 2008

"Spring break, 2008! Spring break, 2008!" It's a rhyme, folks. And as a first grade teacher, you gotta know that I dig rhymes. Too bad it's not an actual chant of mine. THAT would be way hipper. Instead of sitting at a bar with a bloody mary in my hand (it is the morning, you know), I'm sitting in my living room with a cup of coffee. Typing at a computer. Putting off the completion of the report card for my kiddos. Today is meant to be the day I do that. Perhaps in another hour?

Let's see, what random stuff can I write about to insure I stay away from my job related obligations?

Oh- today's my last day with antibiotics! Woo-hoo! I mean, it can't get much better than that, can it? No more coughing. No more mucous. No more chest discomfort. Medication is good.

What else, what else....

Here's one- we completed our individual interviews for the home study on Saturday. That feels good to be done with. One more visit to go and we're done- until, of course, the post-adoption reports. Truth? I can't wait for those. Post-adoption means that we have baby in hand. Or sling. Those will be good days.

And finally- I spent yesterday reflecting where we were one year ago (well, in regards to the Easter holiday). I had decided to be brave and attend our town Easter egg hunt with a friend and her 3-month old baby girl. That ended up being a huge mistake. Mostly because we had been trying to get pregnant for several months and had just started meeting with doctors about the big "i-word"- dun, dun, dunnn- infertility. What had I been thinking? That the egg hunt would be filled with grown-ups who were trying to find eggs stuffed with money? Of course not- the park was filled with hundreds of children who were excited and ready to find the loot... along with their parents, many of whom I hadn't seen for a bit and who felt so inclined to ask me when Jason and I were going to have our own children. That was certainly not one of my best holidays.

Here's to next year- may we have our own child who's ready to find some loot of their own. With their mom and dad right beside them- camera in hand.

I hope your next Easter is with your own baby in hand. :)
Er-sling!...yes, sling!

This is one time I didn't put off getting grades out. They were due today, but I got them done Friday! How's that for being on top of it.

Otherwise, you and I are alike, I think-I read your last post...
I found a lot of similarities:
length of uniform skirt
hippie ways

:)
Enjoy your week off-I know I am!

Yay for Easter 2009! We'll both have our babies then! Hope does a lot for the soul, doesn't it?

YES! Keep spreading the proper usage of the term "own children." The more who know...
