People watching

So today I hitched a ride with a friend of mine and her two kids to Aspen. It's the only town around these here parts that actually has a Gap. Can you believe that. A Gap. With a Gucci store AND a Christian Dior store directly across the street. From the Gap.

The Gap featured the dress on the left in
their window display. Christian Dior featured the dresses, the hat, and the bag on the right in their window display.

I don't think I could be more amused on a shopping spree if I wanted to. But Aspen is so much more than skiing and shopping. It's also the people watching that tends to be the bees knees. So while my friend was filling up a dressing room with things for me to try on (aren't I the lucky one? I HATE shopping. She made what could have been a horrible trip into a terrific one), I got to sit in the car with her sleeping kiddos and people watch. In a ten minute time span I heard English, Spanish, French and German. I saw people who looked like your average Joe and Jane- while in the same blink of an eye I saw someone who looked entirely made of plastic with what had to have been THE perkiest double e bosoms EVER. And then there was the man walking beside her. He was tan, tan, TAN. What else... I saw ripped up jeans. I saw four fur coats. And I lost count of how many stiletto heeled boots I saw on women who were wearing skin tight jeans with huge belts and HUGE purses.

I wonder what they thought of me when I got out of the car wearing the best t-shirt ever (by they way, you can't get this at the Gap or Gucci).... You can bet I was making sure every one saw it- after all, people watching is a give and take business. And business is business.

Pizza really CAN be the best. :)

And, I love people watching. I'm always sure that people are watching me watch them-but as you said, it's give and take.

How can you hate shopping, by the way?
I love shopping. Though, baby shopping is my fave. I can't really try on those clothes...well....not comfortably.

I love the photo of you-made me laugh.
You're goofy too--there aren't many of us, I fear.

Yay for Aspen!

And, I think one of my students and his family is there right now-skiing.

Pizza IS the best. No bones. Aspen sounds totally interesting. I think I would love to go there. How far is that away from Littleton, Colorado near Denver? My Antie and Uncle live there.

Well, I love your blog. I will be following it for sure.

From one Bohemian hippie tree hugger to another... :)

I am jealous of a few things here...
1. Jealous that the closest town to you with a gap is Aspen! Are you kidding me? We have been to Aspen twice (camping) and love it. We don't so much love the Gucci, Christian Dior stuff about Aspen, more the beauty. :) Last time we camped near the Maroon Bells... We (Ok, really just me) would sneak into the country club and pretend I belonged so I could shower. :) We would say to ourselves.. "Man, what an amazing place to live...but where do the normal people work and live? Where do the teachers live? In the shanty down by the river? "
2. You live in the Rocky Mountains.. leads me to my question..... What do you guys do? Do you work in your town or commute?

Love the t-shirt. I love people watching too...
